UNICEF’s Office of Innovation (OOI) is an agile global architecture aligning with diverse partners to boldly explore and scale innovative approaches and technologies to deliver equitable impact and opportunity for every child today, and an accelerated pace of change for generations to come. We do this in a collective movement with innovative minds globally, across industries and generations, and our UNICEF innovators in over 190 countries.Within the OOI, the UNICEF Venture Fund invests solely in Open Source tech solutions with the potential to impact children on a global scale. We invest in solutions around $100 billion industries in frontier technology spaces, such as: blockchain, drones, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, extended reality and virtual reality. The core motivation of the Venture Fund is to identify "clusters" or portfolios of initiatives around frontier technology spaces - so that UNICEF can both shape markets, learn about and guide these technologies to benefit children.
