Hack the challenges. Be the solution.

Launched in 2022 under ministerial leadership, this initiative delivers concrete outcomes that strengthen collaboration between Europe and Japan in building a secure, resilient, and human-centric digital society.

This year’s Digital Week in Tokyo brings together policymakers, researchers, innovators, and industry leaders to advance cooperation in emerging and disruptive technologies – including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum computing, and high-performance computing while addressing key challenges in digital infrastructure, standardisation, and cross-border interoperability.

As part of the programme, the hybrid hackathon on Interoperability of Data Spaces and Digital Public Infrastructure will convene multidisciplinary teams to design and prototype solutions that enable trusted data sharing, resilient digital ecosystems, and seamless collaboration across borders.

Participants will explore themes such as AI for societal good, cybersecurity, trusted data spaces, and digital governance, contributing to the future of global digital cooperation. You can join in person in Tokyo or virtually.

Winning teams will be invited to continue their journey through the Build for Earth Acceleration Program, where selected solutions receive structured support to move from prototype to implementation.

By connecting innovators from Europe and Japan with a global impact ecosystem, this hackathon aims not only to generate ideas,  but to accelerate tangible solutions that strengthen digital public infrastructure and enable more inclusive, interoperable, and future-ready societies.
