From Dialogue to Doing - Live from Davos
In January 2026, as world leaders gather in Davos to discuss the future, citizens around the world will already be building it.
Hack for Earth, together with unDavos, is hosting the Spirit of Action Hackathon - a global online hackathon taking place during World Economic Forum week. The initiative brings together thousands of innovators, technologists, entrepreneurs and changemakers from 125+ countries to turn bold ideas into real, actionable solutions for people and planet.
Democratizing Davos
Spirit of Action opens up Davos to the world. Instead of innovation being discussed behind closed doors, citizens everywhere are invited to take part – regardless of geography, background or resources. Through this hackathon, global decision-making becomes more inclusive, participatory and action-driven.
How it works
The hackathon follows Hack for Earth’s proven Dream – Hack – Build methodology:
- Dream: A global call for ideas invites people everywhere to share their vision for a better future.
- Hack: Teams collaborate online over an intensive weekend to develop prototypes and solutions.
- Build: Winning teams continue their journey in the Hack for Earth Build Accelerator, scaling solutions throughout 2026.
The hackathon focuses on five challenge categories:
- Health
- Education
- Food
- Construction
- Space

On January 19, the winning teams will be showcased live from the Award Ceremony in Davos, bringing citizen-driven solutions directly into the heart of global dialogue – and turning ideas into impact where it matters most.
