Launching Hack for Earth at COP28
The next Hack for Earth global hackathon will take place at COP28, the upcoming high level UN conference to battle climate change in Dubai, UAE Nov 30th – Dec 12th. Applications are now open for hacker teams all around the world to join!
We are at a halfway point. It has been 7 years since Paris, with 7 years to go to 2030. We must respond to the facts. We need to reduce emissions by 43% by 2030 and course correct on adaptation, finance, and loss and damage. COP28 will deliver a transformational COP of action. A COP for all. Hack for Earth Foundation supports this mission of the COP28 leadership, and we look forward to bringing the value of citizendriven innovation of Hack for Earth to our global hackathon at the COP28.
1800+ teams from 125+ countries joined our global hackathon at the COP27, and this year we are raising the bar to 2000 teams from 150 countries! The winners from our hackathons all enter our customized acceleration program, designed to create real tools fast: the Build for Earth acceleration program. This year’s eight challenge categories include: Water, Cities, Transportation, Food, Education, Energy, Environment and Partnership. The specific challenges in each category will be designed in collaboration with our partner organisations and revealed closer to the opening of the hackathon in December.
